Intro to Counseling (Psy201)
Mark Daniels – 2 credits
Most every person from time to time looks to their pastor or another trusted Christian leader for some manner of counseling. Most mature Christians, especially those in some position of leadership, understand the principles of successful Christian living and decision making, but they don’t always have the confidence or fundamental training to impart those principles to others in ways that they can practically apply.
Introduction to Counseling helps bridge this gap through an approach that focuses more on relationship rather than the more common formal interviews process. In this class, students will gain the understanding that Counseling is primarily about helping people apply the truth of scripture and the healing power of the cross to their lives.
The course will explain what counseling is, what the Bible says about counseling, how that compares to secular counseling, and equip you to perform Common Care counseling. Much of the course will challenge your notion of what counseling really means and who can provide it. It's created in a way that any Christian can grow in their ability to help others in their walk with Christ.

For many students of the Bible, it is not until they gain an solid understanding of the nine covenants that God made with man that they really comprehend the scope of the scriptures. PBC’s Covenants class offers a meaningful examination of each covenant in their historical sequence. The covenants offer the primary framework and expression of the relationship between God and mankind throughout the Bible. They determined much of what was considered moral, ethical and religious at different times in history. Viewed together, they are the main overarching structural component of the Bible.
It is the key elements of these covenants that provide the framework for understanding God’s actions, especially in the area of redemption.
